Build your connected closeout checklist
A project is not economically finished when the files ship. You still need to know whether the agreed scope was accepted, whether the balance and approved changes are accounted for, and whether the real delivery hours produced the margin you expected. 1. Confirm acceptance before archiving
Check the agreed deliverables against the Scope of Work and capture written acceptance. Record unresolved blockers instead of silently carrying them into informal support.
2. Reconcile the commercial close
Confirm the remaining balance, approved change orders and the payment/handoff sequence already agreed with the client. A checklist is operational guidance, not a substitute for the contract or local legal/accounting advice.
3. Hand over cleanly and securely
Deliver final files, source assets and documentation through the agreed channel. Transfer or revoke access deliberately, and exchange credentials through an appropriate secure channel rather than a checklist.
4. Capture relationship value
After a successful engagement, consider asking for specific feedback, a testimonial, a referral and written portfolio or case-study permission. Make the post-project support boundary explicit and schedule a future check-in instead of relying on memory.
5. Feed reality back into the next quote
Record actual delivery hours and direct costs, then compare effective hourly rate and economic margin with the original quote. One pricing lesson and one scope lesson can make the next estimate materially better.
